Article L129-8

Modified by LOI n° 2014-366 of March 24, 2014 - art. 3 (V)

The owner of a dwelling shall install at least one standardized smoke detector in the dwelling and, if the dwelling is rented out, shall ensure that it is in good working order when drawing up the inventory of fixtures referred to inarticle 3-2 of law no. 89-462 of July 6, 1989 aimed at improving rental relations and amending law no. 86-1290 of December 23, 1986. The occupant of a dwelling, whether tenant or owner, is responsible for the maintenance and proper operation of this device, and for renewing it if necessary, for as long as he or she occupies the dwelling.
