FIRE DETECTION ALARM TYPE 2b
The main difference between category B and C lies in evacuation management (see end of CAT B). With type 2b alarm equipment, a general alarm is generated and broadcast throughout the establishment by means of autonomous sound alarm blocks (BAAS and satellites), with information centralized on a PR (main) BAAS. It can also perform safety functions limited to controlling fire doors, which can be timed.
Fire safety systems ensure the safety of occupants in public buildings, high-rise buildings, industrial buildings and workplaces.
There are several I.S.S. categories, in decreasing order of risk severity: A, B, C, D and E (according to NF S61-931). Each category implies a different level of I.S.S. complexity, i.e. a specific fire detection and alarm system.
ERP are also classified into categories, ranging from 1 to 5, depending on the type of establishment and the number of people admitted.
According to the NF S61-936 standard, alarm equipment is divided into 5 types: type 1, 2a, 2b, 3 and type 4.
A building's fire safety is based on the match between these three factors: an ERP is categorized and assigned a risk level (and therefore an I.S.S. category), on the basis of which appropriate alarm equipment is installed.

What is a type 2b alarm?
A type 2b alarm is a type of fire alarm equipment found mainly in category C S.S.I. systems. Type 2b alarms can only handle a single alarm zone, and include :
- Manual triggers, which activate the system when manually activated.
- A sound diffusion system: which broadcasts the fire alarm or a system of pre-recorded messages inviting occupants to head for the emergency exits.
- Alarm centralization: can be connected to an alarm panel which receives and manages information from the various system components.
The type 2b alarm is designed to broadcast a general alarm throughout the building in the event of fire.

Our type 2b alarm equipment
The alarm equipment consists of a BAAS type Pr (Main) combined with a BAAS type Sa (Satellite). The BAAS Sa is used to broadcast the general alarm signal. Opening the control loop from the autonomous main alarm unit (BAAS Pr) triggers the 5-minute alarm process.
