How do I dismantle an extinguisher?
An extinguisher's expiry or manufacturing date is essential to ensure its reliability and effectiveness. Here's how to find it:
1. Inspection label :
- Most extinguishers have an inspection label affixed to the body of the extinguisher. This label contains important information, including date of manufacture, date of last inspection and recharging dates.
- Look for a printed or perforated date on this label. It's often located near the bottom or side of the extinguisher.
2.Extinguisher silk-screen printing:
- Some extinguishers have the date of manufacture screen-printed directly on the body.
3. Maintenance documentation :
- If you have maintenance records or inspection certificates for your extinguisher, these documents should show the date of manufacture, refill and inspection dates, and suggested expiration date.
4. Professional Maintenance Service :
- During annual inspections by a certified technician, he or she should be able to verify the date of manufacture and inform you of the extinguisher's remaining service life.
- A technician can also provide an updated service label showing the last check date and the next required maintenance date.
